From Nest to Table: Chickens, Eggs, & Quiche

What:  Enjoy a Saturday morning at Powisset Farm. During this program, designed for our young farmers, we’ll enjoy close encounters with our egg-laying friends. First we will say hello to the chickens, learn about their daily routine, and partake in their egg collection. After we are done tending to them, we will head to the kitchen where we will make mini quiches! Ages 7+ unless accompanied by an adult.

When: Saturday, April 15th, 10-12:00PM

Volunteers needed for 23nd Annual Father’s Day Road Race!
            Make friends, learn new skills, and have lots of fun raising money for a great charity that benefits children and families all over Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island! The Children’s Museum in Easton’s stalwart race committee is looking for some dedicated runners to join our team. There’s a core group of experienced committee and staff members, but fresh ideas, energy and enthusiasm are always needed to keep this top-notch local race one of the highlights of the running season in southeastern Massachusetts. The race committee meets once a month until June, and then slightly more often till race day. We’d love to have you join us!
            The Race will feature 5K and 10K Certified Courses and a 5K Fun Walk over a beautiful scenic course. Registration starts at 7:30am and the Race starts at 9:00am. There will be a post race party, raffles, food, music, awards, and more! We would love to have you join us!

Children’s Museum in Easton

Let the Games Begin at the Children’s Museum in Easton!
Solve the NEW Whodunnit  Mystery at The Children’s Museum in Easton during February Vacation Week from February 20th-24th from 10am to 3pm. The ball has gone missing and we can’t start the game until we find it. Don’t feel deflated; YOU can help us solve this mystery! Kids will use their observational skills, teamwork and a little science to examine evidence, break codes and complete various activities throughout the Museum, each one earning them a new clue. Will you find all the clues and solve this mystery before the whistle blows? February Vacation Week activities are sponsored by Big Y Supermarket. Soup & Stars at the Powisett Farm

Soup & Stars on the Farm

What:  Join us and our local Astronomer for Powisset Farm’s Star Party! We will have soup simmering in the kitchen to keep us warm while we gaze at the stars. You will see and learn more about the stars, planets and moon. Please check our Facebook page for weather updates.

Mass Audubon – Stony Brook

Family Explorations at Stony Brook: Saturday, February 25th, from 11:00 a.m. -12:30 p.m. Join a Stony Brook naturalist for an exploration of the wetlands, woodlands and winter wildlife of Stony Brook. Bring your camera, binoculars and curiosity for an enjoyable walk to learn about the natural history of our area as well as some of the animals and plants that can be found at the sanctuary and why they are here. All hikes begin on the front porch. Program for members only. Free!


Build a Backyard Birdhouse: Saturday, February 25th, from 2:00 -4:00 p.m. February is a perfect time to think and talk about how we can help bring some excitement to our neighborhoods. We will identify the housing needs of several species of birds (Bluebirds, Chickadees and Carolina wrens) that breed in our area. We can help by supplying a place for them to live. Learn what birds are looking for in a nesting site and then assemble a bird house to take home. Bird house building materials included in price. Minimum age 6. Child must be accompanied by an adult.

Children’s Museum – Easton

The Children’s Museum in Easton will be offering Exploring Music on Wednesday’s from 10-11 am and STEM for Beginners on Thursdays from 10-11am. Exploring Music builds your toddler’s brain! This popular program offers a variety of creative musical activities: singing, rhythm-making, dramatic interpretation, listening and learning about different forms and styles of music and lots of movement!
STEM for Beginners invites preschoolers to become young scientists and strengthen Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math skills through hands-on exploration. This program will encourage children to ask questions, ponder the unknown, and test ideas, giving them an edge up on science-based skills they will encounter later in school. Both programs
are free with paid admission to the museum and registration is not required.
